Before You Leave Home
As mentioned before, the goal of the Arrival Survival Staff is to ensure your arrival on campus is as pleasant, seamless, and stress free as possible!
Tips For Your Arrival
To this end we have compiled a list of suggestions that will help you prepare for your arrival.
While packing make note of the size of your dorm room, as well as the furniture that is already provided. Visit the Housing Services Website
for details about each residence hall, which will include room dimensions.
Fill in the top of your parking pass and the cart slip before you leave home.
Place the parking pass on your dashboard when entering Oakland.
This will allow you to begin your unloading process as soon as you park,
making the most of your hour of unloading time. Take the completed cart slip with you to the cart station.
Utilize the driving directions
on this Web site found under the “Getting to Campus” link or the directions
found in your Arrival Survival Packet. These directions will alert you of
construction projects that popular online driving direction sites may not
show.
Be aware that parking is extremely limited on our urban campus.
The parking pass provided to you in your Arrival Survival Packet will allow you to park,
on the day of your move in, in a convenient unloading zone for one hour. After this hour
we ask that all cars be moved to long term parking to allow others to unload. Long term
parking is also free with your pass on the day of your move in.
Keep in mind that due to the limited parking availability,
large vehicles can be difficult to accommodate. Please check your Arrival Survival
Booklet map for a list of garage height clearances and oversized vehicle parking.
